How does Turo work?

Turo is a car sharing marketplace where you can either book a car or rent out your vehicle. If you need a car for traveling, moving, or whatever purposes, you just sign up, find the ideal car for your needs, book it, and use it. What types of vehicles does Turo accept?

Turo accepts legally registered passenger vehicles in the United States with the exception of New York, certain areas of Germany, the United Kingdom, and Canada. How are Turo cars delivered?

Owners have three options for meeting a traveler. They can deliver the car to a custom location, deliver the vehicle to nearby airports, or have the traveler pick up the car at the owner’s location.

What payment methods does Turo accept?

How much does a Turo trip cost?

When booking a Turo-protected vehicle, you will see the full cost of the trip upon checkout. Trip costs can be made up of the following elements: the trip fee, trip price, protection fee, young driver fee, security deposit, delivery fee, extras, and after-trip costs among others. When does Turo charge my payment method?

Your payment method is authorized once your payment request has been submitted. It will be charged once the host accepts the trip request.

How does Turo price a trip?

Turo charges trips by the day. Hourly rates are not offered. Hosts may adjust their prices for individual days however, the listed monthly or weekly discount of the host will always be applied to ensure that you will be charged the lowest possible price. Learn more about trip pricing here.

Can I make changes to my Turo trip?

Yes. Just make the necessary trip change request via the Turo Trips tab and have it approved by the host in the same tab as well. Note that you cannot request extensions if you do not have enough funds, the host declines the request, your request expires, or another guest has already booked the car. I want to list a car in Turo, how should I price it?

There will be tools and options to help you set the daily listing price for your car. How much can I expect to earn as a Turo host?

How much you’ll earn will depend considerably on your vehicle’s protection plan but typically, this could range from 65% to 90% of the trip price. US hosts are paid through a direct deposit to their respective bank accounts and hosts in other countries get paid via PayPal. For more information on payment and earnings, click here.

Does Turo charge security deposits?

Security deposits are charged for trips in high-value vehicles. Some US trips require a security deposit as well. Security deposits are refunded automatically 80 hours after a guest’s trip ends. However, due to bank processing, it may take an additional 3 to 5 business days for the refund amount to reflect on your account. More information on security deposits here.

What happens if a Turo host cancels?

If a host cancels, you’ll be notified as soon as possible to allow you time to book another car or Turo will help you locate another one.
