When is Amazon Prime Day 2020 and More Info to Know

Amazon Prime Day is one of the biggest events in online shopping. It provides Prime members with the opportunity to save big on some of their favorite products. However, due to the effects of COVID-19, Amazon Prime Day isn’t going to take place in 2020 when it usually does. Keep reading to find out how Amazon Prime Day is changing this year in response to the coronavirus.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2020?

As of the time of writing, Amazon has not provided the general public with a firm date on which Amazon Prime Day will take place. That being said, industry analysts predict that Amazon Prime Day 2020 will take place sometime in October. Recently, Amazon third party sellers were informed that Prime Day 2020 may take place on October 5.

This means Prime members will still have an opportunity to save on their favorite goods. However, it’s still unclear how many brands will participate in Amazon Prime Day 2020 and to what extent. Here are some of the things that might be different about Prime Day in 2020.

How Amazon Prime Day 2020 May Be Different

The biggest challenges associated with Amazon Prime Day are the restrictions being placed on vendors regarding the quantity of inventory they can keep in stock at Amazon fulfillment centers. Currently, they’re only able to keep three months’ worth of product stocked. This has disrupted companies’ supply chains and will make it more difficult for many of them to sell large quantities of products at discounted prices for Amazon Prime Day 2020.

Another challenge companies are facing with Prime Day 2020 is its proximity to Black Friday. Prime Day was able to grow as much as it did due, in part, to its annual July sale date. This was far enough away from the Black Friday and Cyber Monday holidays to give both companies and customers the opportunity to benefit from each.

However, since Amazon Prime Day 2020 will take place just a month before Black Friday, it will be difficult for companies to ramp up their production capabilities to meet demand for each of these days. This, coupled with the lingering uncertainty surrounding the timing of Prime Day, is causing some companies to reconsider the extent of their involvement in Amazon’s biggest day.

Similarly, the restrictions that Amazon has placed on its vendors’ inventory processes may cause some of them to switch back to merchant-fulfilled orders. This means that their products may lose Prime-eligibility, further diminishing the total amount of goods customers can save on during Prime Day 2020.

Consumers Will Still Save Money

Despite all of the challenges associated with Amazon Prime Day 2020, it will still provide Prime customers with an excellent opportunity to save money. You may have fewer options to choose from this year, but you will still be able to purchase Amazon-brand items and many others at discounted rates. Look for an official announcement regarding the exact date of Amazon Prime Day 2020 to come out soon.
