Sierra (formerly known as Sierra Trading Post) opened In 1986 under very humble beginnings. The catalog was hand drawn and the company had a single, small warehouse. Four years later the first of the retail stores opened and then from there, it grew. Sierra was one of the first stores to embrace the power of the internet by opening an online store where people could shop for all of their camping and outdoor needs from the comfort of their homes, an idea that probably seemed farfetched, even silly at the time.


Now part of the TJ Maxx family of brands, Sierra continues to grow and to surprise new customers while maintaining loyalty to their returning ones.
