Simons Working with Canadian Food Banks to Fight Hunger

In today’s turbulent times, we all must do our part to make our communities better, fairer, and more inclusive places. What better time to get started than during the holidays? While individuals can make their contributions this holiday season, companies have a unique ability to tackle large scale problems in immediately impactful ways. One corporation that’s doing just that is Simons.

Keep reading to learn how Simons is working with Canadian food banks to give back to their community.

The Put the "Us" in Generous Event

This holiday season, Simons is partnering with the Jeffery Hale - Saint Brigid family of community foundations to help Canadians in need. The initiative, called “Put the Us in Generous”, is focused on increasing necessary foods and supplies at Canadian food banks across the country.

To fund this initiative, Simons has pledged to donate the equivalent of 30% of its sales on Tuesday, November 3rd. These earnings will be donated to a variety of food banks across Canada. This is a list that includes:

  • Student Hot Lunch Program - Quebec City
  • Ottawa Food Bank - Ottawa
  • Whitehorse Food Bank - Yukon
  • Feed Nova Scotia - Nova Scotia
  • Calgary Food Bank - Calgary
  • Bridges to Hope - Newfoundland and Labrador

In all, 21 organizations from coast to coast will benefit from this contribution by Simons. While Simons is the company that’s funding the project, achieving the kind of reach that they wanted was only possible by partnering with the Jeffery Hale - Saint Brigid family of community foundations.

This is a consortium of foundations that grew in response to the “Giving Tuesday” initiative. Each organization in the consortium has a longstanding reputation for providing financial assistance and support to community groups working in the Greater Quebec City region. The Jeffery - Hale Saint Brigid family of community foundations is the perfect partner to bring the Put the Us in Generous event to life.

Citizens of both Canada and the United States can do their parts to make this initiative even more impactful. By choosing to shop -- either online or in-person -- at Simons stores, you can increase the amount of funding that these important organizations receive.
