What shipping options does ItaliaRail offer for US customers?
The new electronic ticketing technology means that tickets no longer need to be shipped to you. However, in the event that there may be a need to send passes or tickets by mail, they will be shipped on the same day the reservation was booked, if the ticket was booked on a weekday. Does ItaliaRail ship globally?
Yes. ItaliaRail ships tickets and passes globally via DHL. International shipments will usually take around 3-7 business days, although it may take longer for remote areas. Do I need to print out my ItaliaRail ticket?
There are e-tickets which can be used for ticketless travel so you just show them on your mobile device when boarding. This is quite common with high-speed trains. In the event that you need a ticket printed out, use one of the self-service machines at the train station. Just input your PNR or passenger name record when prompted and you should get a print out of your ticket. Click here for more information.
What happens if I lose my ItaliaRail ticket?
You can just reprint your e-ticket if you lose it or if it gets stolen. Unless you lose your original print-out, your phone, and your laptop at the same time, you will never really lose your e-ticket. You can also contact customer service at email@example.com if you want a copy of your ticket to be sent to a different email.
Are ItaliaRail Passes refundable?
Stolen or lost passes are non-refundable. They cannot be replaced or exchanged either. Any issuing or handling charges for passes are not eligible for refund. If unused, Rail Passes can still be eligible for refund within 6 months to 1 year from its issue date, depending on what is stated on the pass. How soon should I book my ItaliaRail ticket?
High-speed trains typically release their fares and schedules between 90-120 days in advance. Regional trains usually have their fares and schedules available 60 days in advance. You can choose to book your tickets 2 months ahead or even just a day before your actual trip, whichever is most convenient for you.
Can I select or change my ItaliaRail seat?
No. As of the moment, seats are automatically assigned during booking. However, ItaliaRail is currently working on upgrading their system to allow this particular feature.
Can I get a refund for my ItaliaRail ticket?
If your train got canceled due to a strike or other reasons, the train staff should do all they can to book you on the next available train. You may also request for a refund directly at the station.
