Does U-Haul have age restrictions on who can rent and operate equipment?

Yes. Customers are required to be at least 16 years old in order to rent trailers and at least 18 years old to rent trucks. A valid driver’s license is required for both too.

What payment methods does U-Haul accept?

While a credit or debit card is required when you make a U-Haul reservation online, you may choose to pay for the rental in cash when you return the truck. Here are the accepted payment methods at U-Haul when making a reservation for U-Haul equipment online.

Is my U-Haul reservation guaranteed?

Yes. Confirmed U-Haul reservations are guaranteed. A reservation is confirmed when you choose a location where a $50 guarantee badge appears. For those cases where the location selected by the customer doesn’t have the guarantee badge, reservations are confirmed U-Haul will get in touch with the customer a day prior to pick up to finalize the pickup details.

What are U-Haul’s rates for truck rentals?

For One Way move, rates are determined by the date of the move, the size of the truck, the point of origin, as well as the destination. Allowed mileage and the number of days required to complete the move will also be factored in. For In-Town move, rates will include a per mile charge and a flat fee for the entire rental period. Truck rental rates at U-Haul can change at any time. This is why confirming your reservation is advised so the rate is locked in. You can check the moving truck rates here.

When can I expect to receive my U-Haul supplies order?

Moving supplies that are ordered before 10AM (CST) will receive same-day processing and shipping. Orders placed beyond that will receive next-business day processing and shipping. Most orders should be delivered within 2-4 business days.

Does U-Haul accept returns of moving supplies?

Yes. Moving merchandise can be returned within 30 days from delivery. Returned merchandise must be in new condition and must be shipped back including the original accessories and packaging it originally shipped with. You may also return damaged moving supplies. To secure a Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form, contact 1 (866) 277-6855. Once the returned item is received and verified, the product cost minus the shipping fee will be refunded within 2-5 business days. Shipping fees are only refunded in the case of damaged or defective products. Note that U-Haul is unable to accept returns of items that are opened as well as those beyond the 30-day return time-frame. Also, returned items without an RMA will be subject to a 10% return shipping restocking fee.

Do I need to sign up for U-Haul coverage for damage?

No. Coverage is optional. However, any damage to the U-haul rental equipment will be your responsibility and you will be charged for the damage, along with lost rental revenue upon returning the item. You will be responsible for all damages to the vehicle regardless of who’s at fault if you decline to sign up for coverage.

Can I modify or cancel my existing U-Haul reservation?

If you need to make changes to or cancel your reservation, contact U-Haul a day before the move date. You can look up your pending reservation to either cancel or change it online. You can also get in touch with your pick up location or talk to a local U-Haul representative.
